Birdhouse is a notepad for Twitter. What it does is "houses" your tweets for later publication. In other words, with Birdhouse, you can draft your tweets, save them for later, and publish them when ready.

Birdhouse has a clean interface yielding high ease-of-use. You can use the application for multiple Twitter accounts if you have more than one, and unpublish tweets that you posted from Birdhouse through the app. You can also "rate" your tweets according to how much you like it at that moment, until you reach the 5-star rank. You can also view created and modified times for the tweet as well as delete tweets on the main tweeting page.

Should you want to backup your tweets, you can do through email. You may set up a default email address to which your tweets will be sent, or email an entire list of tweets from your drafts and history pages. Additionally, the history page tells you the time and date you published a certain tweet and from there, you can unpublish as well.

With Birdhouse, you can draft as many tweets as you want and save as many tweets as you want. While you can publish tweets however, be aware that this app is meant to complement your current Twitter client on your iPhone or iPod Touch. It doesn't intend to replace your main Twitter client, only add to it with a particular function.

This app is very easy to use, but one thing I would like to see is yfrog or twitpic support. For example, if you're at a Bon Jovi concert, you draft a tweet saying "I'm at the Bon Jovi concert" but in actuality you're just heading there. When you are at the concert, you snap a pic, but can't add it to your Birdhouse draft. What a shame!

...........But in all seriousness, picture support is something I would like to see in future updates.

This app costs $3.99 and is very well-executed. It's not an essential function for every Twitter user, but for those who do need the functionality of this app, Birdhouse is well worth the price.

More Cowbell! was the first cowbell application that made its way to the App Store.
In this simple music app, play five instruments to your heart's content: the cowbell (of course), maracas, triangle, tambourine, and sleigh bells. When you start up the cowbell, you'll hear the favorite SNL phrase, "I gotta have more cowbell" and then you start playing from there. You can tap to play any instrument, or shake to play if enabled. All instruments have clear, good quality sound effects, making this app, perhaps, useful at weddings when you'd like to make a speech, Christmas, when singing your favorite holiday tune, or dinner time, when you need the family to come on down and eat.
This app has a simple to use format. Yyou'll press the info button at the bottom right to adjust settings and change instruments. View scoring, settings, and other Maverick Software apps when you hit that info button.
With this app, your "Cowbellometer" is measured. Keep on playing to get a higher score, so that you can enter the World Cowbell Rankings and Cowbell Hall of Fame in time. Liquid is a relaxing, easy to use entertainment app & fluid simulator. Choose from a dozen water colors and background tetures, adjust the speed and sound of the liquid, and even apply custom photos to the background.

Similar to Koi Pond, Liquid allows you to interact with the fluid surface. Tilt your device and the water will flow in that direction. Tap the water to make it move, or simply lay the device flat for stagnant motion. The sounds make this app even more realistic and riveting.

It's fun to choose a colored water and watch it flow beneath the background, whether it be stone or wood or a personal photo. There isn't much to the app besides being a fluid simulator, but I feel as if that's the point.

If the sound of water relaxes you, Liquid might be what you need. It offers a lot of customization options, is easy to use and a pleasure to look at.

Delicious Memory is a simple, no-nonsense matching game that is totally sweet.

The game is straightforward: set up your game board dimensions, them match up the desserts. There are 20 delicious desserts presented in the app, and your moves are counted. Complete your matches and see your high score.

There is also a two player mode. You need to share the device, because it plays in P1, P2 order. It makes the game a bit more challenging.

This app is very easy to play and is sure to please the little ones as well.

While Delicious Memory isn't unlike any other matching game for the iPhone, it IS deliciously illustrated, making it fun to test your memory. You're also able to change the dimensions of the game, making Delicious Memory shorter or longer to play. It's evident that the developers put effort into making this app simple yet fun at the same time.

Among the delicious memories art red velvet cake, pecan pie, banana splits, pastires, and chocolate-covered strawberries. Yum!

Thumbs Wars for the iPhone and iPod Touch lets you relive those intense childhood matches of Thumb War.
This app provides three levels of difficultly for you test your thumb: captain, major, lieutenant. The game is presented in Lichtenstein-pop-art style graphics, making for fun and attractive animations.
While this game does allow flexibility in offering three levels (captain being the hardest) it is quite challenging, even for me. I had my nieces & cousins try out the app and they all had difficulty pinning down the elusive thumb. It moves quickly, of course, but instructions aren't clear on when exactly to pin it down.
The game should probably feature clearer instructions, especially if the game is trying to be kid-friendly. I'd also like to hear some cool sound effects, which would further enhance the game.
This game has lots of promise, but if it doesn't get easier it won't be such an approachable application for the different age groups.
The gameplay is really the main aspect that needs polishing. The premise of a thumb war is simple, but I feel the gameplay should be more direct and easier to approach.

Pinball Destruction is a fun, straightforward pinball app that's actually quite fun and refreshing. The boards are simple yet colorful and you control the game by tapping the bottom left and right corners.

The goal is to hit the different pins and clear them off the board. From there, after you "destroyed" the table, you move onto the next level. This adds a twist to the normal pinball game that makes Pinball Destruction all the move fun and enjoyable.

The game provides a similar experience at every play yet with different outcomes. You never know how long you'll last and it's fun to see how far you can go. There's a leaderboard that appears after you've ended your run to see how you rank up.

There are few games that are this simple yet provide enough levels of gameplay to keep people going. Pinball Destruction is a fun game and great value at 99 cents. Check it out today.

Meet your new friend, Chalky, in iChalky! He's a stick figure and his moves only by your hand. Control his movement through the accelerometer and watch him rumble and roll about.

His movement is unpredictable! Adjust spring constants, spring damping, and floor/wall friction to see what moves him. You're able to make him a custom face with photos from your camera roll or a newly taken photo. He can just be about anything or anyone in that case!

Once you've got him in a good spot, tack him down using the thumbtack icon at the bottom (see above picture).

iChalky is one of those apps that let's your see just what your iPhone/iPod Touch can do. This isn't a fancy application with dazzling graphics or gameplay, but rather, a simple entertainment app and utilizes the features of the iPhone to make something entertaining.

Since I don't have a set of headphones with a mic for my 1g iPod Touch, I wasn't able to see Chalky dance, but again, it's a feature that plays on the abilities of your device to make something entertaining.

As far as replay value, it'll be fun see Chalky's movements for the first few rounds. It can be repetitive, however so not everyone will enjoy iChalky. But, if you take the time to appreciate the abilities of iChalky, you could come out with a new experience each time.

Despite that, if you're looking for a well-polished, simple entertainment app, try out iChalky today.

Art, an education apps, features short bios and photography of art work on dozens of renowned, seminal artists. In Art, you'll impressionist masters including Monet and Van Gogh, as well as Dadaist Salvador Dali, among others. This app is extremely informative and you'll learn about each artist you look up. The articles are from Wikipedia, by the way.

There are over 400 works loaded in Art. Some artists have as little as three pieces, while others have over 30 in their profiles. This of course will vary depending on the illustriousness of the artist. The works are well detailed, and you can zoom in & out, as well as save works in your photo library and use them as wallpaper.

A HUGE update is coming up, and will bring to app to feature 81 artists and 5,000 works. Whew! For what the app is worth right now, it's great for art enthusiasts, students, and people just started to get interested in art. Thoughts on WWDC Annoucements

Well, I don't have much to say regarding the iPhone 3G S (although I was hoping for a slight re-design), I'm excited for the 3.0 updates.

Even as an iPod Touch user, such features at cut, copy, & paste, purchasing movies & shows, landscape and spotlight search would be great! $9.99 is okay considering the features we'll be getting. I'm looking forward to June 17--darn! I'll be out of town that day.

1. Why & when did you enter the Apple App Store market?

I entered the Apple App Store market in November 2008 with Golf Scores. I thought since I spent a lot of time developing this app for myself, why not share it with others and at the same time make some extra money.

2. What are your apps?

In the order in which they were developed and released: Golf Scores, Pet CV, my Kids, iAchieve.

3. Describe why you developed your apps, and what you hope customers will appreciate about them.

Golf Scores:
This was originally a Windows Mobile application which I developed years ago (see here http://handster.com/en/product_multi.php?id=2919&cid=4 ). When the iPhone came out I thought it would be great to have a version for it.

Pet CV:
Golf Scores did well and we started thinking of something else people would need. My mother-in-law who has lots of pets suggested an app to track pet data. Most of the pets on the screenshots for Pet CV are actually hers. While I was developing the app Sasha (one of her dogs) died and we decided to dedicate the app to her and always have her on the front screen.

myKids:
After finishing Pet CV I thought I could reuse most of the code and create a new app that would be used by parents to keep important details of their kids.

iAchieve:
This one is my wife's idea. She came up with the idea, she was deciding on the look and feel, behavior, what goes in and out, I was just developing. We were trying to encourage our older daughter who is 3 years old to keep her bed nice and dry while sleeping. Every morning when she woke up accident-free she could put a sticker on the calendar and that's where it all started. Nowadays she's forgotten about the calendar and just uses iAchieve. She chose purple as her background color, and uses a different icon everyday. My 20 month old is now using the app too as she likes to do whatever her sister does.

For all the apps, I hope my customers would appreciate everything about them. They were made with lots of consideration, and they were all continuously improved as requests and suggestions were made. I try to give them what they request where possible. That said, I greatly thank those who have emailed me with suggestions and feedbacks, and those who continue to use the apps.

4. What is your personal favorite app in the app store (aside from your own) ?

I don't actually have a favorite app, there are however few apps that I use almost every day.
They are: PortfolioLive, Bloomberg and Oz Weather.
One thing for sure, there are no games on my iPhone - I don't have time for it.

Ruben & Lullaby review

A top contender in International Games festivals, Ruben & Lullaby is a unique cross between the graphic novel and the game.

Ruben & Lullaby have been dating for five months, and at the start of the game, is their first quarrel. From then on, their fate as a couple is in your hands. Tilt your device left and right to progress their argument, shake and hold a finger down to madden someone, or run your finger across the screen to calm them down. Gameplay is unique and may take people some getting used to; the learning curve isn't steep, but provides a different angle of direction than typical games.

The art work, by Ezra Claytan Daniels, is stunning. The subdued colors keep the character's emotions intact, while helping gamers distinguish frustration from disbelief. The emotions of the character's come alive, even though there are no animations. It's a definite achievement of the artist.

There are 5 outcomes of this game, although I've only ended up with 2 so far. There is no 'direct' way to come out with these different outcomes, forcing the player to uniquely imagine the scenario.

Listen to the music as you play--it seems to mimic the emotions of the scene. This adds another layer of gameplay and helps build up the emotions in the scene.

I have never played a game from the App Store quite like Ruben and Lullaby. Graphic novels, I've read, games, I've played--but never before have I encountered a bridging of the two in an application. This game provides a new texture to gaming, and shows just what the iPhone/iPod Touch can do.

As far as gameplay, I know it will not appeal to everyone. Others may feel its too boring, or feel the actions available are limited. As far as replay value, certain players may feel frustrated because they end up with the same outcome, even though there are 5. Perhaps in the future, more scenario's will be developed?

However, this is a unique game, and doesn't play out the same way for everyone. Gamers are in control of the scenario, and the combination of artwork, music, and player actions help develop the gameplay.

Ruben & Lullaby takes only a few minutes to play until you reach a the end of the scene, but it is interesting to see how the scene plays out each time. This is a unique game that combines elements many have never seen before, like myself. At $2.99, purchasing this app is an investment in something unique, and deserving of attention. The art work, music, and unique gameplay help create Ruben & Lullaby, but ultimately, it's the gamers who are control.

You're also able to add Pet Info on your pet, with veterinarian details, identifications, allergies & conditions, and more. This creates a profile for your pet and helps you better understand their needs.

I would say that this app is lacking in this category and that category--but it's not. It's so thoroughly detailed and loaded with pages and pages of articles and useful content. This is an easy-to-use, informative application perfect for any pet owner.

Find an Apartment is an app that aids you in your housing search. Browse apartments through Apartments, HotPads, and more. Narrow down your search criteria by adding number of bedrooms, bathrooms, distance, and more. These specifics helps make your search more precise.

Once you've searched, view the listings and easily scroll through the plain-text results. View pictures, price, add listings to favorites, and share listings.

This app is easy to use, but the interface could be more attractive. It's plain, and while that doesn't matter much in terms of usability, sometimes it can making searching more entertaining.

I received adequate results for my searches in the San Francisco Bay Area. Some users have listed issues with having no results in their city, but I know the developer is working on this.

In short, Find an Apartment is an app that does what it says--find you an apartment. It's easy to use, and will come in handy for those looking at locations on the go.

Toy Raid by Flying Tiger Entertainment is a newly-released shooting game with relics of childhood toy battles and Parachute from early-gen iPods. With colorful visuals and fast-paced gameplay, Toy Raid is one of the hottest apps to release this summer.

In Toy Raid, you're shooting anything and everything that comes after you in the air: helicopters, paratroppers, UFO's and more. Everything is coming after you to destroy your base. Don't worry, though, because along with these enemies from the sky are also plenty of special weapons/bullets to help you stay alive. Shake your device to active the nuke's!

You can play this game with either touch or tilt contols, but I prefer the latter. However, with both control mechanisms, I'd like to see smoother movements. Sometimes I feel the controls could be smoother and less clunky, especially with touch. Also, at times when playing on touch controls, I would activate a nuke. This may be due to the position I played it in, and it's not a huge deal--but worth mentioning.

Controls aside the graphics are eye-catching and keeps your attention throughout the game. The sound effects are clear and make Toy Raid even more fun and intense. The animations are fast, keeping gameplay exciting and fresh at each wave, of which there are over 50!

Gameplay is intense yet incredibly fun. It's a simple shooter that doesn't require you to do much in order to be successful. The arcade-style gameplay is sure to appeal to a wide variety of gamers, especially those who looking for something simple yet fun and action packed.

There are no difficulty options; the game increases in difficulty in each wave, so there's really no need for it. Other options include sound off, English/Spanish language selection, control type, and a personal high-scores chart.

Truth be told, I've only reached Wave 11-barely 1/5th of the game! But, with that said, Toy Raid is worth every penny. Hopefully, the 50+ levels will last gamers of all skill level a long enough time to enjoy the arcade style fun of this app.

The app is currently just $0.99--a bargain considering its replay value. Kudos to game designers John Brandsetter, Jeremy Klein, and Flying Tiger Entertainment for creating a great app! Grab Toy Raid now before the price goes up.

My Make Up review

My Make Up is a great, kid-friendly make up application that's currently at the top of the Kids leaderboard in the App Store.

In this app, you have four different characters to doll up: Blake, Tia, Tessa, & Brooke. They say simple phrases like "Toodles" all in a British accent; very entertaining!

There's s a good variety of make up to use; my niece enjoyed putting more formal colors and wacky ones on characters. Great fun for the little ones!

This application is geared towards kids, so it's easy to play and simple to use. It's a great app for children, and I'm sure there are updates to come to make this app even more fun.

Touch Atlas - World Maps is a reference apps showing moderately detailed world maps. With over 165 countries mapped for, Touch Atlas is a good reference tool for quick reference.

The app features labeled countries, capital cities, and latitude and longitude. Evidently, the maps aren't heavily detailed, so this would not be the app for you if you're seeking high detail. This app is, however, good for quick reference.

You can search for apps through the alphabetized scroll wheel, or simply running your finger through the list of countries. When you're done looking at a map, simply tap the orange button at the left top corner to exit. The app is very easy to use and navigate.

It's easy to pinch and zoom in on maps, as well as viewing bordering countries and so forth.

The app is $0.99 and released only last month, so I anticipate future updates that will add to the app's overall functionality.

MyMemoryMad is a simple memory game, where you repeat the flashes and sounds of the five color panels in the correct order. Chances are you've played a game like this before.

You tap on the colors in the order they flashed in. Each level gets harder and harder, until you lose track. It's a definite challenge once you reach a certain level.

You're scored and remarked on your memory once you go awry.

The UI of the game is simplistic and could probably be livened up to be more appealing to the eye. The game doesn't offer much in terms of depth, and provides only one style of gameplay.

Despite this, MyMemoryMad is a simple, true test of your short-term memory. It's a familiar game that will test you each time you play.

Squash creepy crawlers--over 50 of them--in Bug Squash by Faster Than Monkeys. In each level, you have to tap faster or else your 10 lives will fly by fast (no pun intended).

You can select from themed levels like "Beetle Mania" and "Spider Stampeded," or compete in my favorite, random, where all bug types are in play.

You have the option of selecting your own background picture, or go with the classic. It's a nice touch that can yield some funny personalization options (check out the snapshots in the App Store).

The gameplay is simple and the graphics are good. There are sounds effects that help add to the experience in the game. It's clear that this app isn't meant to wow gamers with intricate gameplay and meticulous graphics. It's supposed to entertain gamers, young or old, and Faster Than Monkeys accomplishes this beautifully.

Overall, Bug Squash is a great app that's sure to entertain the kiddies, but also older crowds as well. There are plenty of levels to choose from and the gameplay is fast-paced and easy to pick up. If you're not sure about purchasing Bug Squash just yet, check out and play the LE first.

I am an idiot! Well, according to The Moron Test, at least.

This entertaining app will have you playing for hours on end, in order to prove that you are NOT an idiot! It's super entertaining and the perfect escape for long bus rides, boring lectures, or moments of boredom.

This app features many levels, some of which require you to think fast, or do nothing at all. The graphics are excellent and the theme music is hilarious, yet goes perfectly with the fast paced gameplay.

If you're an idiot, and want to give levels another go, you can play from the checkpoint, or start all over. Some levels are ridiculously easy and funny, while others will catch you off guard.

There's a timer, so you can challenge friends who are playing as well. There are a ton of updates coming, and version 2.0 is said to make "all your wildest dreams come true."

The Moron Test is so entertaining! If you don't take yourself too seriously, you will enjoy this app. It's a little frustrating at times, but the truth hurts--maybe you are an idiot!

(This app is on sale for $0.99, but normally costs $2.99. Get it while it's cheap!)

From the makers of the popular Bobby Carrot series comes Parachute Panic, a new casual game that challenges you to "successfully land a host of parachutists into passing boats." Dodge detering dangers including helicopters, U.F.O.'s, sharks, and thunder clouds.

The objective is clear: safely land the parachutists into the passing boats. Swipe your finger to control the direction of the parachutists via wind, in order to land them safely. This game can get quite challenging however, as dangers seem to clump around you. I've only landed about a dozen parachutists safely, in fact!

The hand-drawn graphics of the game are well done and the animations are fun. The gameplay requires you to act swiftly in order to be successful. You have 5 lives before you die.

The sounds of the game are quite ominous but add to the overall quality of the game. I find the gameplay to be challenging, yet refreshingly so, considering how easy other casual games are. It takes practice before you can master the game, so be prepared to get a little frustrated at times! But in all honesty, for the price of $0.99, you won't find another app as well done as Parachute Panic. While I wish there were more options to control the difficulty of the game, it remains a true challenge for gamers like myself.

The controls are easy to pick up; simply swipe your finger to create winds. This game isn't heavy duty by any means, but you do have to pay attention to the screen in order to stay alive. It is however something you can easily play on the go, lending itself to be a "casual game."

Overall, this is a high-quality app by FDG Entertainment, the same people that have delivered Bobby Carrot Forever. The animations are fantastic and the accessibility of the app is established within the first few minutes of gameplay. This app is sure to be a hit, so check it out while the price is low.

Ever feel like the notes widget on your iPhone/iPhone just isn't enough to jot something down? Enter Finger Memo by Aesthology, Inc. This app gives you the freedom to draw, write, and scribble anything you'd like on an unbound canvas. It's memo freedom!

Write or draw your notes on a new blank canvas (size can be changed with setting) and it will post straight onto the memo board. A nice touch, and great way of viewing old notes. You can email notes and even dial a number (too bad I can't use this function on my iPod Touch =[). You have the freedom to rearrange your board, and even set a pass code to protect your memos.

Delete memo's as if you were deleting apps. An 'x' will appear at the top right corner, allowing you to free up your memo board easily. You can also export your illustrations into your photo album.

Finger Memo is easy to use and a great app for need to produce memo's more productively. In the future, I'm hoping to see more customization options, such as color and fonts.

There is a lite edition (LE) available, so try Finger Memo out today, and go from there.

iSmoothie is the only comprehensive beverage app dedicated solely to smoothies. Featuring over 100 recipes, iSmoothie delivers several lists of tasty, fruity, savory concoctions perfect for summer.

There are five buttons at the bottom of the app: favorites, categories, smoothies, ingredients, and random. You're able to star your favorite recipes, add notes & ingredients, search for smoothies with specific ingredients, and hit the random button to discover new smoothies daily. There are a host of new features in v2.0, including adding pictures.

The UI of the app makes it easy to find new recipes, and the search engine breaks down your search into different categories featuring that specific ingredient. For example, if you search chocolate, you get a list of related ingredients, including chocholate syrup, ice cream, etc.

In all honesty, this app doesn't deliver anything new in terms of smoothies. You can find many of these recipes in a book at the library. However, this app allows you to quickly and easily browse a list of recipes at your convenience. For heavy-duty smoothie makers, it will come in handy.

Currently, this app costs $0.99. A lite version is available, so I recommend you try that out first and upgrade if you use iSmoothie heavily. For what it's worth, however, you won't find any recipe book for a cheaper price than iSmoothie for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

short hand by LizzardWerks allows you to quickly and easily type and send out messages thanks to personalized and pre-loaded abbreviations (i.e. thx - thanks). If you are on the go and need a way to send out messages quickly, short handwill come in handy.
short hand allows you to email, tweet, and send notes by using short hands (abbreviations). In your message, simply type your abbreviation, and the app will automatically change it to your desired word/phrase. It's a useful app when you need to send a quick snippet via email, Twitter, and so forth.
This app will probably not be needed by all users, but short hand will save time for users who are constantly messaging and on the go.
In future updates, short hand will add to its "Send Options" list, and I'd like to see Blogger on there. =] It's guaranteed that over time, considering the newness of this app, that it will appeal to a broader range of users. You can also draft messages for later with or without using short hand phrases, so it has the potential to streamline all your social networking accounts in future updates.

My Diary allows you to easily write and view diary entries. It features a lock feature, in which you will be prompted for your passcode, allowing for maximum security. You're able to email entires, write in landscape mode, easily delete entries, and pinch-to-zoom entires.

It's a no-frills app that performs exactly what it says it will. You're able to view past entires by scrolling throughout the months, and delete them if necessary. This app will provide you with a simple sanctuary to share your feelings, whether they're short, quick snippets or longer entries.

This app is easy to use and simple at that. If you use your iPhone/iPod Touch heavily, and find that the traditional diary just doesn't work for you, try My Diary today.

Dictionary.com's app is a powerful reference tool made for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It uses a simple, user-friendly interface, allowing easy searches through Dictionary & Thesaurus.

If you've visited dictionary.com before, you'll know that this app provides clear defintions to a large selection of words, 275,000+. Thesaurus.com provides about 80,000 synonyms, according to Dictionary.com's description.

You're able to browse recent searches history and listen to pronunciations, as well as viewing "word of the day."

One of the greatest aspects of this app is the fact that it does not require Wi-Fi for searches. This optimizes the app's overall usefulness and convenience. You're unable to listen to pronunciations or view word of the day sans Wi-Fi; not a big deal to me, but worth mentioning.

Overall, dictionary.com is a useful, easy-to-use app, and proves to be convienient reference tool when on the go. And what's more, is that it's free!

iCanSketchIt is a competative drawing game that tests your precision and attention to detail. The app features three levels of difficulty with three level packs in each degree of difficulty. There are a total of 8 levels in each pack, so if you do the math that's 72 levels! Great variety.
The game using a grading scale to determine your score. You can view the image you're to draw as a guide. You fool around with the brush sizes and style to craft the perfect picture. From there, you're scored, given a total, and able to share them through a global server.
The app is unique. I haven't encountered anything like it before. The levels are enjoyable to play and it's fun seeing how well you'll turn at each picture.
iCanSketchIt is Feint enabled, so you can view the chatboard and talk with other gamers. A nice touch, but I don't view it often.
There are two game modes: precision and speed. In precision, you're not timed, but scored on your drawing precision. On Speed, you must hit a certain percentage of precision to progress, in addition to being timed. Intense!
This app is enjoyable. It's a competative drawing aap, offering something new to the table. You're also able to use the sketch pad and save pictures. It's not a comprehensive drawing game though, so it's pretty basic.
iCanSketchIt is created by ChewSoft, headed by Andrew Borland. They put an immense amount of effort into their apps and listen to consumers. It's one-of-a-kind app that provides a unique gaming experience.

AniMatch is a kid-friendly matching game built for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Kids (and adults!) alike will enjoy this animal matching game, featuring a bevy of creatures, from raccoons to frogs to monkeys to lions & tigers and more!

The matching starts up right away. Matching on the 5x4 grid is fun and provides a challenge for all users.

Gamers are rewarded for matching up animals correctly, but also minused points when matches aren't made.

This game is geared mainly towards children, but it's the type of app that anyone can pick up and play.

The game is very fun to play for the little ones. It's definitely great to have on hand when you have your nieces, nephews, little cousins, or kids around. The pictures are pleasing and provide sufficient laughs and giggles. Controls are a breeze as well.

I short, AniMatch is a pleasure to play.

Tips from my 6-year old niece:

Provide a "hint" button (She got a little frustrated at times)

Labyrinth review

This app has a special place in my heart. It was one of the first apps I purchased from the Apple App Store, and has been one of the few that remain on my device.

Like the classic physical version of the game, in Labyrinth, you control a steel ball by tilting a wooden labyrinth, with the objective of getting it into the checkboard hole.

Like many buyers, I first used the lite version of this app. The app provides extremely precise physics and clear graphics, making Labyrinth a stunningly simple yet thoroughly enthralling app to play.

There are many downloadable level packs, which range from easy to difficult and everything in between. While the gameplay is repetative, you'll find levels sufficiently challenging.

There are a few options to tweak to the game to your preferences. You can game time limits to add a level of challenge to the gameplay, turn sound effects on and off, and play in 3D mode, which is also adjustable. These simple changes may seem trivial to other games, but to a simple game as Labyrinth, it makes a difference.

I purchased this app at around $6 or $7. I say take advantage of the current price drop. While this game is fun and challenging, there is only so much you can do with it.

Nonetheless, Labyrinth was the first app of its kind available on the Apple App Store. Illusion Labs has done an excellent job with this app, as many as the several other apps they have produced.

Up There is one of those simple games that seem to stick to you, no matter how approachable the gameplay.
It's probably due to the attention to detail that's been put into this game. The hand-drawn graphics are beautiful and add to the aesthetic quality of the game; the music is fantastic, featuring original songs "Joy of Sky" and "Artic Moon." The levels transition seamlessly and the pacing of the game is smooth.
The objective is to keep the ballon from disappearing from the screen, or getting stuck underneath somewhere. Dodge bookshelves, branches, clouds and more as you continue on in the game. The gameplay is very straightforward, allowing gamers of all generations to experience Up There.
There are several options available to gamers as well. You can change difficulty from easy to hard (no in between), personalize your balloon pattern (I stick to red), try reverse controls, and choose songs. You're able to view personal and global scores as well.
With any straightforward game, Up There is repetative. When I first purchased it, my competative edge to get a top score was much higher than today, after having owned the app for months.
This game currently costs $1.99, but there is a lite version out now too. The game is worth the price; if you appreciate all the aspects of the game, you'll see its worth.

Scoops is a fun stacking game that involves everyone's favorite foods: ice cream and veggies. While that statement is contestable, there is no doubt that Scoops is a fun game anyone could enjoy.
You start out with an empty cone, and slowly built up your cone by stacking the scoops of ice cream. Avoid veggies to maintain your multiplier bonus though! I noticed you seem to multiply higher with stacking same color scoops, but that's impossible to do continuously. There are rainbow cones, that up your score and multiplier, and the title scoop purple with stars, that give you an extra 'star,' or life. Or else it's 3 veggies and you're out!
The game is easy to play. Use the accelerometer to catch the right items, and watch you go higher and higher into the sky, until you reach the planets.
The graphics are cartoon-style but fun to see. The background transitioning is smooth and looks good as well. The sounds do not support a mute switch, and recently, NimbleBit implemented sounds from Sky Burger when you nearly catch a veggie. It's not a bad thing, but I'm not a fan of it.
The game has few options, besides global and personal scores, and challenge emails.
The app costs $1.99. It will provide escapes from boring lectures, car rides, and other events in which you need quick entertainment. Check out Scoops today!

Doodle Jump 1.2.1 update

The recent Doodle Jump update, to v1.2.1, enables a cool collaboration with PocketGod.

Simply put in a default Pocket God name (i.e. Ooga, Klak, etc.), and this is what you get: a pygmy emerges in place of the DJ character (you shoot coconuts!)

I think this was a cool, cute idea. If you appreciate both apps, this app is sure to amuse.

In Doodle Jump by Lima Sky LLC, you control a cute, perpetually jumping green creature going from platform to platform. You must dodge monsters, shoot them by touching the screen if need be, as well as avoiding any faulty platforms. This game provides simple, direct gameplay, precisely what has made it so addicting for so many players.

The game provides no multiplayer functionality; you are competing against yourself to get a higher score. You do have the ability to share scores with your Facebook friends, as well as emailing them through the game. You can view global and personal scores as well.

The game employs cartoon-style graphics in bright, crisp animations. The controls are simple; with the use of the accelerometer, you control your character from platform to platform.

Might highest score is under 30,000. What I've encountered are monsters, blackholes, spaceships, and disappearing white platforms. There are other platforms as well; the "safe" green color, a moving blue platform, and a brown, broken and unsafe platform.

The game uses score markers so you can view local (personal) and global scores. You have the option of allowing global leaderboard auto submission, as well as directional shooting and sound muting.

In all honesty, this game is very simple. However, perhaps this simplicity is what has immersed so many players in to wanting a higher score. Its accessibility makes it a game for all ages to enjoy, and the coming updates are sure to enhance the already addictive gameplay.

Currently, the game costs $0.99. Considering the bevy of games available for that same price, there are probably few as simple and addictive as Doodle Jump.

It is safe to say that Pocket God has become an iPhone/iPod Touch phenomenon. It has remained at the top of the paid App leaderboard, and has amassed thousands of fans worldwide.

This entertainment app gives its users ultimate powers--you are the Pocket God. What does that mean? Well, it means you have the ability to do pretty much whatever you'd like to your little people, or pygmies. Torture them with rain and thunderstorms. Flick them ashore. Unleash a mighty wind. Let them fish, or feed them coconuts. Provoke the t-rex. And the list goes on...

The app has progressed greatly throughout the past few months. Bolt Creative seems to be putting in a massive amount of work to make this app a success. And it their hard work has paid off thus far.

What makes this app so popular? I used to ask that myself, in the app's early stages. There was little to do at first, only a few activities for short entertainment. As more updates, or "episodes" released, however, it became clear that Bold Creative has much more in store than us buyers suspect.

The graphics are excellent and quite amusing. The facial expressions, changes in weather, and aftermath of your actions are clearly apparent, making Pocket God an interactive experience for consumers.

The pictures I posted doesn't do the app justice, nor does any review or video for that matter. To truly experience the Pocket God app, you have to play for yourself and discover ways to amuse (or torture) your pygmies. At $0.99, the game is accessible to all users; rhe immense sense of control this game gives to players is something few apps have yet to achieve in the same sense as Pocket God. With so much to do, and presumably, much more to come, purchase Pocket God now...you won't regret it!

English Phrasebook (formerly known as Idioms) offers a wide selection of English idioms available to view without internet connection. Some of the commonplace phrases include "eagle eye," "rub salt to the wound," as well as "MacGyvered" and "a broken clock is right twice a day." The UI of the application is similar to browsing songs on your iPhone or iPod Touch; content is alphabetized and you simply scroll through the right side to browse phrases. There is a search function, multi-colored backgrounds to "spice" up the screen, and quizzes. The phrases are well defined, but I have a few minor gripes with the app.

First off, scrolling through phrases is not as fluid as I'd like it to be. Perhaps this is because I've gotten used to quickly browsing through songs on my iPod Touch, but it is frustrating to find the screen this scrolling even when you're not touching the screen.

And while I adore the great variety of idioms, or english phrases as ADS terms it, the app needs something to liven it up. The quiz format, in which you select between "Word" or "Definition" (which is mainly just memorizing the term or definition) is not intuitive or useful. I know this app is not meant to function as an idiom game, but offering such a functionality leaves room for criticism. Tweaking the quiz format with definitely "pack a punch" to the app's overall appeal.

The multi-colored screens are great and all, but maybe some customization options could be implemented? At times I feel the font is too small or hard to read. May that's just me, but I'd like the appearance to be changed a bit in that aspect.

Despite the minor flaws of this app, I have no other criticisms. If you're interested in the english language, or stuying idioms, or just curious about them, this app will suffice. There are 9,000 idioms featured, with concise, easy to understand definitions. You'll be able to view familiar phrases, while discovering new ones at the same time.

The app has not been updated in a while, but hopefully some changes are in store.

Just a heads up to everyone...

If you're a user of the Opera web browser, check out their wid=gets section.

They offer a widget called 'Blocked,' which is in the app store under the same name. I'm pretty sure the developers are the same, but I could be wrong.

It's basically the same application, but for Opera. If you're interested in Blocked (which is currently #35 in the App Store), check it out!

More Toast! by Maverick Software is a fun, silly, hunger-enducing app. More Toast!, to put it simply, is a toaster simulator. You select from a variety of toast types: bread, english muffin, bagel, waffle, toaster pastry, and strudel pastry and toppings: butter, jam, peanut butter, jam, cinnamon sugar, syrup, cream cheese, honey, nutella, icing, whipped cream, strawberries, and blueberries. Whew! That seems like quite a list, doesn't it? Well, the app sure has come a long way since when I first downloaded it for free. Maverick has devoted plenty of time to improving the app and for the past few months has been updated frequently with new toast types and toppings. I commend Maverick Software greatly for the app's expansive improvements to the graphics, user interface, and variety of items available.

However, along with the updates, came a new price of $0.99. That is not expensive by any means, but of course a step away from being free.

With this application, you can make toast, apply toppings (if you please), and eat your creation. You could also save your toasted goody right within the app itself then send it via email, make it a contact pic, or background pic.

While this application is simple and repetative after multiple rounds of toast making, it will definitely provide you with enough entertainment to get through your next class, lecture, or even your next meeting! With the amount of updates that app has been receiving lately, More Toast! is a definite bang for your buck.

Welcome to App Updates!

I've owned a first-gen iPod Touch for a little over a year now. I love browsing the App Store and discovering all it has to offer. While I am limited in terms of what apps I can use because of my device, I try to take advantage of the features my iPod Touch does have and use them to the fullest.

In my blog I'll be reviewing new apps, existing & updated apps, as well featuring content from other sites that I find interesting.
